FTP Numerical Errors
If you encounter a numerical error while using FTP, please refer to the following list. Just select an error message to see an explanation and solution.
You have uploaded a file which would have caused your disk usage to exceed your allotted quota of 25 megs, so the uploaded file was not saved. Either delete some files you aren't using to free up the space or else reduce the size of the file and try uploading again. The password that you used was not recognized as the correct e-mail password for the account you are working with. If you have forgotten your e-mail password, please visit Member Services or call us. The e-mail name that you used is not recognized as valid, check that you spelled it correctly. You must register for PWP before you can upload your files. For more information, click here. The Unix Command chmod is not supported by the PWP FTP servers; users may not change permissions on their files. 550 filename.ext: Forbidden filename. The path or filename you have entered contains forbidden characters.
A filename may contain only alphabetic letters in capitals (A-Z) or lower-case (a-z) and the numbers 0-9. The symbols dash (-), underscore (_) and 550-dot (.) may also be used. A filename may NOT start with a dot or dash This error is caused by an FTP client issuing an invalid modification date and time command, the fix is to disable this feature in the client, in wsftpLE this is found in the Options window under the PRO tab. Remove the checkmark from the Preserve file time on transfers from remote option to fix it. If you need assistance with this error, please post in the worldnet.help.pwp.advanced-users newsgroup.
