Having trouble getting into HELPChat?

If you are experiencing any of the following:

  • The Start Chatting button doesn't do anything.
  • The chat window opens but only a gray box or a blank window appears.
  • Java errors occur when trying to access chat.

You may have to make a couple of adjustments so HELPChat! will work:

  • Use Microsoft Internet Explorer to access HELPChat!
    Chat works best with Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  • Clear your cache. (Steps to clear cache in Microsoft Internet Explorer)
  • Check your settings in Microsoft Internet Explorer:
    1. Launch  Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    2. From the Tools menu, choose Internet Options.
    3. Click the Advanced tab.
    4. Scroll to Microsoft VM.
      Note: If you do not see Microsoft VM listed in the Advanced tab, please visit the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine Support Web site for alternative Java solutions.
    5. Make sure that JIT Compiler is the ONLY option checked.
    6. Look for Java (SUN) and, if you see it, make sure it is not checked.
  • Is a third-party pop-up blocker enabled?
    Visit the WURD if you get Blank or Missing Windows When Launching HELPChat.

After making these changes, please try again.
