Setting up Your E-mail and/or iPhone for AT&T Worldnet(R) Service

I want to set up my e-mail and/or iPhone to access my AT&T Worldnet(R) Service e-mail and newsgroups.


Answer: 

The purpose of this document is to provide you with the server names and other settings that you will need to configure your e-mail program for access to AT&T Worldnet(R) Service.

Note: If you require additional assistance with entering these settings or if you have any questions, please visit the More Help section.

AT&T Worldnet Service will no longer host Usenet Newsgroups on its Servers as of July 15, 2009. If you would like access to newsgroups, you may subscribe to a commercial Usenet provider.

I am dialing into AT&T Worldnet(R) Service
  • E-mail Settings:
    • Mail Server Type: POP3
    • Incoming Mail (POP): postoffice.att.net
    • Outgoing Mail (SMTP): mailhost.att.net
    • User name or POP name: Enter the full e-mail address in the User Name field. For example: example@att.net or example@worldnet.att.net
  • To automatically restore your settings use one of our automated tools:
    • Restore my Account Feature with Connection Services Manager 6.x or higher:

      From the Start menu, select Programs, select AT&T Connections Services Manager, and then choose Restore My Account.

    • Fix-it tool with Connection Manager 5.x:

      From the Start menu, select Programs, select AT&T Worldnet Software, and then choose AT&T Worldnet Fix It.

I am connecting through a high speed connection or another ISP or iPhone

    Note: Worldnet support is limited to providing the iPhone E-mail Configuration Settings. For all other iPhone technical support issues, refer the customer to: att.com/wireless

    Note: If you are using Mac OS 10.x, set up Mac OS X Mail to access your AT&T Worldnet Service e-mail.

  • E-mail Settings:
    • Mail Server Type: POP3
    • Incoming Mail (POP): ipostoffice.worldnet.att.net
    • Outgoing Mail (SMTP): imailhost.worldnet.att.net Note: If you are using Netscape Mail, enter your other ISP's outgoing e-mail server. If you are not sure what the SMTP server name is, contact your non-AT&T Worldnet Service ISP.
    • Ensure that the option My server requires authentication is checked.
    • User name or POP name: Enter the full e-mail address in the User Name field. For example: example@att.net or example@worldnet.att.net
    • Ensure that the option Always connect to this account using is selected, and Local Area Network is chosen from the drop-down menu on the Connections tab.
    • Ensure that secure connection (SSL) is enabled and set to port number 465 for SMTP.
    • Ensure that secure connection (SSL) is enabled and set to port number 995 for POP3.
